You must know Topic sentence – organized response with Support sentences and examples/ detail.
This task asks the test-taker to listen to a question/prompt (statement) and then record an answer. You can listen to the question/prompt 3 times in 20 seconds, and then you have between 30 and 90 seconds to respond.
You will have to answer to a statement (A) or a question prompt (B)
Statement – A: Describe your favorite movie.
Question – B: What do you think about global warming these days?
Prompt = Statement or Question
In any event, just like Read, Then Speak above, you should give an organized response where you give support statements and examples/detail and, time permitting, a concluding sentence
Topic sentence = topic + controlling idea
A: Describe your favorite movie
‘My favourite movie is Hunt for Red October. I enjoy this movie because it involves submarine warfare, and it includes one of my favorite actors, Sean Connery. Although Sean Connery has passed away, he was one of the first James Bond actors, so he has had a lot of experience in ‘lead roles’. In Hunt for Red October, he is the commander of a Russian submarine that intends to defect to the United States of America. There are many ‘cool’ underwater battle scenes, and there are great depictions of military protocol. This is why this is my favorite movie.’ (99 words) |
B: What do you think about global warming these days?
Well, I think global warming will be an ongoing problem for several reasons. First, there are too many cars and airplane flights in the world, and they all pollute the air and add to warming the earth. Second, governments around the world are not doing enough, even though the head of the United Nations stated the world is in trouble due to climate change. Finally, there is not enough research done on effective alternative energy resources. Research requires financing and no country wants to take the lead. In conclusion, these are the reasons I think global warming will continue to be a problem. (102 spoken words) |
